Christmas Buffet Party for 20 guests

 Antipasti Platter

(Large platter made up of a selection of Parma Ham, Bresaola, Salami with Fennel Seeds, Pepperoni, Olives, Caperberries, Juicy Melon, Tiny yellow & red Tomatoes, Slices of salty cheese, Radishes with small bowl of Maldon Salt, Marinated Mushrooms and drizzled lightly with a fruity, extra virgin Olive Oil just before serving.)

Hummous & Crudites

(A centre bowl of Hummous surrounded by red/yellow and orange hollowed out peppers, each filled with fingers of either raw carrot, raw celery, baby sweetcorn, with a large basket of chunks of pitta bread)

Guacamole and Tortilla Chips

Bruschetta with Various Toppings

“Serve Yourself’ Bruschetta

(Small slices of French Baguettes, pre-oiled & garlicked, fried –can be prepared hours ahead – with bowls of Soft Goats Cheese, sliced Tomatoes, sliced Red Onion, Broad Bean & Pea Puree on Bruschetta , Duck Pate, Wild Salmon Pate, Anchovies in oil)

Individual Bruschetta

Nibbles of Small Bowls of Spicy Hot Nuts, Manchego & Quince Jelly 0n sticks, Melon Cubes & Black Olives on Sticks, Hot Spicy Chillies, Fried Glace Cherries wrapped in Bacon.

(If you’ve not tried large Glace cherries, wrapped in streaky bacon and fried in a non-stick pan until the bacon is almost crisp and the cherries are gooey sweet, the taste sensation will amaze you and you’ll want to eat the lot.)


Mini Spiced Mince Pies

Crumbly warm Mince Pies just out of the AGA 

We all have our own favourite recipe for Mince Pies – I just love using all my small cutters such as an Angel, a Robin, a small Christmas Tree and Crackers to decorate the tops of mine.

(made in small bun tins as finger food)

(Dark Chocolate, crushed Hobnobs, Golden Syrup, mixed with Crushed Brazil nuts, crushed Hazel Nuts, flaked Almonds, Dried Cranberries and Dried Blueberries)  So chocolatey rich, crumbly and fruity, I have to freeze these or I would eat them all up straight away.

The reason that this is called Astrid & Erik’s Fantasy Christmas Buffet Party is that we love giving parties at Christmas (or any other time of the year) but as some of you know, we are moving house in January, and already our rooms are turning into huge storage rooms, overflowing with boxes. So this is just to give me (Astrid) a quick fix pretending that we will have this party. 

Now next year, Party Time will be in our new house.  Can’t wait!

    I can vouch for the glacé cherries with bacon, I was lucky enough to be there when Astrid was cooking these to be photographed and they are amazing, I could have easily eaten the lot! Yum!
